Minimum Support Price - MSP

Minimum Support Price (MSP)  – It is a price declared by Government of India for certain Crops on the recommendation of CACP (Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices). This CACP comes in under Ministry of Agriculture and farmers Welfare.
So in total MSP is declared for below crops.
• Cereals (7) - paddy, wheat, barley, jowar, bajra, maize and ragi
• Pulses (5) - gram, arhar/tur, moong, urad and lentil
• Oilseeds (8) - groundnut, rapeseed/mustard, toria, soyabean, sunflower seed, sesamum,             safflower seed and nigerseed
• Raw cotton
• Raw jute
• Copra
• De-husked coconut
• Sugarcane (Fair and remunerative price)
• Virginia flu cured (VFC) tobacco
In the case of Sugarcane  – we call it as Fair and Remunerative Price. The FRP is also recommended by CACP by including some more factors to arrive a FRP number.
